The soup is on at the new cafe at the Edgerton Hospital and Health Services on Sherman Road and it is warm, healthy and nutritious.

In partnership with Minnesota’s A’viands Food and Services Management, the hospital has started a Fit Choices 4 Life food program at the cafe that is designed to provide goodtasting edibles and food that is also good for you, according to registered dietician Jenny Ludwig.

The new food program, which started when the new hospital building opened last fall, also complements and reinforces the hospital’s ongoing employee wellness program, according to Julie Norland, the hospital’s human resources director.

The wellness program offers employees opportunities to track their health through various, optional free screenings and testings, as well as ongoing lectures about stress reduction and other associated topics. Employees are provided screening and test data to help manage their diet and to set individual goals.
