In our previous post we mentioned the some of the ways our dining facilities was celebrating Earth Day. Though Earth Day is observed around the world on April 22nd, we truly believe that we should honor the Earth each and every day.

Go Paperless Whenever Possible
Every ton of paper (~220,000 pages) saves about 17 trees. As an added bonus, you will minimize your clutter.

Get a Reusable Coffee Mug or Refillable Bottle
Americans buy more than 30 billion bottles of water a year, and less than 15 percent are recycled.

Pull the Plug on Unused Electronics
The U.S. Department of Energy states that 75% of electricity used to power electronics is consumed while the product is turned off.

Support Local Farmers
If your food could talk, it would tell quite a tale. Typical grocery store produce travels nearly 1,500 miles before it ends up on your plate. All this traveling burns fuels and results in carbon emissions.

Plant a Tree
You get exercise, immediate visual stimulation, and some serious self-satisfaction. Your tree will convert nasty pollutants to pure oxygen and offer a welcome to wildlife.
